FAQs

What is the PlayTRAY made of?

The PlayTRAY is made from BPA-free, phthalate-free, FDA & LFGB food-safe ABS plastic. It has silicone feet on both the shallow and deep trays, and a silicone seal around the lid.

How is the PlayTRAY packaged?

The PlayTRAY will be packaged in a cardboard box. All boxes can be fully recycled.

Is the PlayTRAY safe for children to use?

The PlayTRAY has been thoroughly safety tested to comply with international toy safety standards. It carries the CE and the new UKCA safety marks. We do ask that you supervise your child carefully when playing with activities in the PlayTRAY, particularly if they involve water or materials that could be a choking hazard.

What age do you recommend the PlayTRAY for?

The PlayTRAY is tested & certified for use from birth. It is designed to be used by children of all ages, with the shallow tray being ideal to start using with younger ones before graduating to the deeper tray. As always, we ask that you please consider the age-appropriateness of the activities you set up in the PlayTRAY and supervise play at all times.

How can I use my PlayTRAY?

The PlayTRAY is designed to be used for all sorts of sensory play, sand, water & craft activities and we can't wait to see the activities you set up! It is made from high quality ABS plastic, but we recommend not overfilling your tray, particularly if you intend to move the tray afterwards.

The PlayTRAY can be used on the table-top or the floor. We do not recommend leaving it outdoors for long periods of time, as you may start to see some weathering and discolouration of the plastic over time.

The inside surface of both trays and the compartments have a gloss finish, enabling them to be used with most dry-wipe pens (please test first). The PlayTRAY is freezer safe.

How do I care for my PlayTRAY?

The PlayTRAY can be cleaned using hot, soapy water and is dishwasher safe up to 60 degrees. Do not clean in a UV dishwasher. Anything higher than this may damage the tray.  Please do not use any solvents as these may also damage the PlayTRAY. For some stubborn stains we recommend using the Pink Stuff or oxy-action powder or even toothpaste!

ABS plastic was chosen due to its stain resistant properties and it has undergone rigorous testing with the use of food colouring (Wilton brand), sand, play dough and other commonly used play resources.

However, please bear in mind that it is white and some materials may stain it, including some paint products. Read the instructions of your paint products carefully and test on an inconspicuous area first.

You may also find that some colours of jello may stain your tray. We recommend using gelatine and a bit of food colouring instead.

When using the PlayTRAY for really messy activities and crafts we recommend cleaning it straight afterwards to keep it looking its best.
