About the PlayTRAY

What is the PlayTRAY made from?

The PlayTRAY is made from BPA-free, phthalate-free, FDA & LFGB food-safe ABS plastic. It features silicone feet on both the shallow and deep trays and a silicone seal around the lid. ABS plastic is durable and stain-resistant, perfect for messy play, sand, water, craft and STEM activities.

Is the PlayTRAY safe for babies and toddlers?

Yes! The PlayTRAY has been thoroughly safety tested to comply with international toy safety standards. It carries the CE and UKCA safety marks. We recommend supervising your child carefully when using the PlayTRAY for sensory play activities, particularly if they involve water or small materials that could be a choking hazard.

What age is the PlayTRAY suitable for?

The PlayTRAY is suitable from birth and grows with your child. The shallow tray is perfect for babies and younger toddlers, while the deeper tray is ideal for older toddlers and preschoolers. Always consider the age-appropriateness of the activities and supervise play.

How do I use the PlayTRAY for sensory play?

• Use for messy play, sand or water play, playdough, SETM activities and arts & crafts.
• Place on a table or floor.
• Do not overfill the PlayTRAY, especially if moving during or after play.
• The inside surface of both trays and the compartments have a gloss finish, enabling them to be used with most dry-wipe pens (please test first).
• The PlayTRAY is freezer safe.

What activities can I do with the PlayTRAY?

How do I clean and care for my PlayTRAY?

• Clean with hot, soapy water or in a dishwasher up to 60°C/140°F (avoid UV dishwashers).
• Avoid solvents or abrasive cleaners.
• For stubborn stains, try The Pink Stuff, oxy-action powder, or toothpaste.
• Brightly coloured paints or jellies may stain; use gelatine with food colouring instead (test a small area first).
• For really messy activities and crafts, clean straight after use.

Can the PlayTRAY be used outdoors?

Absolutely! The PlayTRAY can be used outdoors, but prolonged exposure to sunlight or weather may cause discoloration. For best results, store indoors when not in use.

At what age can I start sensory play with my child?

Simple tactile experiences, such as feeling soft fabrics, tummy time on a colourful play mat, playing peek-a-boo with chiffon scarves, or water play, are perfect for babies. As children grow, they can explore more complex textures, materials, and open-ended activities.

How do I make sensory play safe and fun?

• Supervise your child at all times.
• Avoid small items that could be choking hazards (buttons, beads, marbles).
• Clean the PlayTRAY immediately after messy play.
• Use non-toxic, food-safe materials.
• Let your child explore at their own pace.

Can the silicone products be sterilised?

Yes! All our silicone tools are food-grade and can be sterilised. We recommend using a baby-safe steam steriliser.

Does Inspire My Play deliver internationally?

The PlayTRAY and all of our sensory play accessories arrive in fully recyclable cardboard box.
